Brain: The Man Who Wrote the Book That Changed the World by Dermot Davis

Brain by Dermot Davis is laugh-out-funny all the way through book and I'm looking forward to reading other books by the same author after having read three of his books. I love what he does with characterization, and how the the characters take their corrupt ways further and further into obsession.

His witty writing cracks me up and the little asides in a sentence that makes Daniel so fun to read. As we live in a world that is focused on "now, now" and "social" marketing without thinking, Brain takes on the results of these behaviour. Does it end well?

Brain grabbed and kept my interest, I liked the characters, I could feel the locale almost as though it were another character in the book, and it feels like Daniel will stay with me after I've moved on to my next book. If you are looking for laughs and fun, pick up your copy today.

Would I recommend this read? Yes. Just as Daniel escapes reality, if you are looking to do the same, this is definitely a good book for you.

This is the third book I have read my Dermot Davis and I must say I'm impressed. His use of flawed personalities to magnify society's issues is fascinating even though it's done indirectly. In Stormy Weather, readers are introduced to a 'dream therapist' who doesn't take his own advice.

His wife has left him, he has little faith in himself and strange things start happening in his own life. Soon reader and main character are confused about what is real and what isn't. This was the best part of the book for me. Dermot Davis took his time with toying with the reader's mind and I don't mean this in a bad way. He makes you think. Sick father, broken family, crumbling career, what do you need to do to put it all back together?

Would I recommend this read? Definitely a must read from me. You have a flawed character who's dealing with other people's faults instead of his own, something many of us find entertaining to do ourselves.
