First, a short personal intro. The past six months have been the longest months in my life since I left the corporate world. A close friend is in the midst of being diagnosed with Parkinsons at a young age. The book club I’ve worked with for many years is growing, evolving. My three small ones aren’t as small as anymore. As life changed, books became my escape. When I started Seasons’ End I immediately knew that this was different. This is one of those books that you feel honored to read, the kind where you are humbled by any kind of social media contact with the author.

Yes, It’s that good and you can read my past reviews, very few authors have left such a mark on me. Will North has a way with words that not only enables you to escape into the story, it reaches out to your insides emotionally. His tone is gentle and there is nothing forced about how he writes or introduces his characters. Everything has its perfect time and place.

If I had to pick one scene as my favourite, it would be when Adam walks along the beach on Labour Day. How many times have we wanted to be alone to think and just as we do that, the memories come flooding back locking out the silence and beauty in front of his. Powerful stuff.

Would I recommend this read? Absolutely, I also recommend buying the paperback version because this is definitely a book you'll want to keep with you at different stages of life.

Offensive content?: I received this book with a PG rating but I don't think so. Based on language and settings, I would recommend this book for anyone aged 15 and above.

Tell us a bit about your family.

I am recently married to a very talented and delightful Englishwoman who keeps me on my toes, and I have both a splendid son and grandson.

How do you work through self-doubts and fear?

I can’t afford self-doubt. I just push right through it.

What scares you the most?

Right wing “Tea Party” Republicans, but you probably don’t want to mention that…

What makes you happiest?

A great sentence I’ve just written, a face-lick from my dog, sun on the beach where I live, still having a pulse…

What’s your greatest character strength?

Relentless persistence and perfectionism.

What’s your weakest character trait?

Why do you write?

I write to pay the mortgage. It’s my job.  It’s also my “work”—that is, the thing I am meant to do.  I have always written for a living and have been writing and publishing books for thirty years, nineteen of them so far. Before I turned to fiction, I ghost-wrote books for people like Bill Clinton, Al Gore, several famous mountaineers, a team of dinosaur hunters, among others.

Every summer for generations, three families intertwined by history, marriage, and career have spent “the season” at their beach cottage compounds on an island in Puget Sound. Today, Martha “Pete” Petersen, married to Tyler Strong, is the lynchpin of the “summer people.” In childhood, she was the tomboy every girl wanted to emulate and is now the mother everyone admires.
