What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Crunchy Nut Cornflakes. I’m addicted to them.

One food you would never eat? Any kind of fried bug.
Pet Peeves? People who house their pet guinea pigs, rats and other small animals in cages barely big enough to be litter boxes. Pleeeease research how to care for these animals properly. Just because they’re small, that doesn’t mean they’re insignificant.
What is your dream cast for your book? Rhona Mitra (Silver); Robert Downey Jr (Alex); Jude Law (Luka); Ian McShane (Maydevine). I’ve had this all worked out for a while. I just need to convince the rest of the world…
If you could be one of the Greek Gods, which would it be and why? Ares. He always seemed to have a lot of fun on Xena: Warrior Princess. Plus, no-one’s gonna mess with you if you’re the God of War.
What is your favorite Quote? Oscar Wilde: “The moment an artist takes notice of what other people want, and tries to supply the demand, he ceases to be an artist.”
What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you? It is the fate of most of us to touch the world lightly and leave no prints. Try to grab it a bit harder.
Hidden talent? Imitating guinea pig vocalizations.
What was your favorite children’s book? The Animals of Farthing Wood.
How do you react to a bad review? Ignore it. It’s career suicide to do anything else.
If you were a bird, which one would you be? I’d be a crow. I’d follow people around and scare the crap outta them. You’d leave for work in the morning and I’d be perched on top of your car. You’d shoo me away, but I’d follow you to work and sit on the ledge outside your office window and glare at you through the glass. And at night, you’d see my ominous silhouette through your bedroom curtains…
If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why? Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime & Punishment. It inspired a central theme in my second book, SILVER: The Lost & Damned.
What do you do in your free time? There’s nothing I’d rather be doing than writing, so my ‘free time’ and ‘work time’ are often one and the same. I do like to catch a movie every once and a while, though. And I’ve discovered that Netflix can be a great procrastination tool when I’m feeling creatively drained.
If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be? Living Left of Main.
What’s your favorite season/weather? Autumn. It’s not too hot, not too cold, and everything is so beautiful when the leaves begin to turn.
What is your guilty pleasure? Xena: Warrior Princess.
What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrassed to admit?The People’s Court. (I have a massive crush on Judge Marilyn Milian).
Finish the sentence- one book I wish I had written is…. Waiting for Godot. Okay, okay … I’m cheating. I know it’s a play, not a book. But I still wish I’d written it.
Favorite music? I listen to a wide breadth of music, depending on my mood or what I’m writing. I listen to a lot of Emilie Autumn, Lyriel, Delain, and Stream of Passion. Other favorites include Jill Tracy, Nightwish (only Imaginaerum and Dark Passion Play), Imperia, Indica … and a few other obscure Scandinavian bands.
In your wildest dreams, which author would you love to co-author a book with? Lee Child. (Author of the Jack Reacher novels).
If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose? Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, Ian McShane, Rhona Mitra, and Jon Favreau. They’d each get free copies of my books and a copy of the script. Then, I’d sit back and look forward to watching the movie come out in 3D.
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?Pen, paper, and my MP3 player. I can live without anything except my words.
If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose? Edgar Allan Poe.
If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world, which would it be? Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. I’d love to take a peek at 19th century London, and maybe become a pickpocket.
If you could choose only one time period and place to live, when and where would you live and why? 1835 – 1895. Basically, middle to late 19th Century England. Right around the time Darwin published The Origin of Species. I think that would’ve been a fascinating time to live because such great changes were going on. The world, and the way people lived their lives, would never be the same again.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”? It changed every week, but I kept circling back to ‘writer’. At one point, I wanted to be a pathologist, but then my high school career advisor told me I should ‘give up’ because I was terrible at chemistry. That same year, I took a career aptitude test which told me that I was best suited to be either a legal secretary or a morgue attendant.
Who are your favorite authors of all time? Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett, Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
Favorite Candy? Jaffa cakes.
If you were a super hero what would your kryptonite be? What color Kryptonite? Green Kryptonite causes death after continued exposure, so my green Kryptonite would probably be Jehovah’s Witnesses. Red Kryptonite can cause temporary insanity, so my red Kryptonite would be certain members of my family. (Come on, everyone has at least one family member who drives them crazy!). Did you know there are 18 different kinds of Kryptonite, though? Answering this question fully might take some time…
