7 Questions with #YA #Fantasy #Author A.C. Harrah

Q1: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
A: I was thirteen. I had just watched Finding Nemo when I turned to my parents and asked, “I can make money at any age if I’m a writer, right?”
Q2: When and why did you begin writing?
A: Once I determined a thirteen-year-old could theoretically make money by writing books, I began. Oddly enough, it wasn’t so much money I was looking for but independence.
Q3: How long have you been writing?
A: Technically speaking, the moment one picks up a pen and scribbles something on paper—even if it is a meaningless doodle to those around—one has started writing. Therefore, I have no memory when I started writing.
Q4: When did you first know you could be a writer?
A: I don’t think I ever thought I couldn’t be a writer. It was just a question of if I wanted to be one.
Q5: What inspires you to write and why?
A: Horrible plots and amazing characters. I want to fix the plots, and I want to recreate the characters’ speech patterns.
Q6: What genre are you most comfortable writing?
A: Young Adult Fantasy.
Q7: What do you consider the most challenging about writing a novel, or about writing in general?
A: Finding a chain long enough to let me reach the bathroom but short enough that I can’t wander so far away from my computer that I get distracted by something shiny.
