#Orangeberry Author Interview - George Cappannelli

Did you learn anything from writing this book and what was it? I learned a ton about aging – my own and the world’s.  I learned that one only gets to soup when one is willing to stay on the heat long enough.  I learned that great books are always written from the inside out.

Will you write others in this same genre? Yes, it is part of the work of this live

What are your goals as a writer? Inspire, engage, prompt, entertain, and share what I know with my readers

Can we expect any more books from you in the future? Yes, both non-fiction and fiction

Have you started another book yet? Yes, I am at work on two non-fiction books and I am completing the third in a trilogy of novels about art, love, and transformation that I have worked on for 12 years and that I now believe is ready.

Are you reading any interesting books at the moment? I am reading Entering The Shift Age by David Houle and Spiritual Partnership by Gary Zukav

Do you have any advice for writers? Live a lot with courage and honesty and write as often and as much as you can.  I think Henry Miller was right when he said that one needs to write a few million words before one begins to get to the real heart of it.

Do you have any specific last thoughts that you want to say to your reader? Write to share, to contribute, to learn and evolve your craft.  Forget about all of the outside carrots.  Forget about fame or fortune.  Write, as a wise man I once knew said about the search for consciousness, “as a drowning man seeking air.”   Write, guided at least as much, by your heart as your head.  Write as if each word was the last and defining word by which you will be known.

When you wish to end your career, stop writing, and look back on your life, what thoughts would you like to have? I do not ever want to stop writing.  Writing – which is an essential form of communication, is a natural part of my life.   It gives me the opportunity to come to know myself and the world around me better.  Like breathing, it enables me.
