Author Interview – Elle Campbell

Tell us a bit about your family. My family has always been loving, caring and supportive. But I would have to say that my mother was a fashion fanatic in the family. She once won 3rd place at a regional make-up/beauty competition and she raised me teaching me the importance of not spending too much money on clothes, but instead just investing in quality pieces that you can mix and match to form amazing outfits so that no one would be able to tell that you have worn the same shirt more than twice! My father on the other hand was more of a flip flop and socks kind of guy. Although he makes this fashion no-no on a regular basis, he has taught me to always work towards my goals, to never give up and to aim high.

What is your favourite quote, by whom, and why? I have two quotes that have got to be my favourites and they are both quotes made by Coco Chanel…

“Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.”

“In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.”

What is your favourite colour? My favourite colour has got to be the ones found on the pastel palette. While neon colours are bright and fun, pastel colours give you the sweet ‘girl next door’ kind of look, which is a look that I particularly like. There is something about pastel colours that makes it soothing for the eyes and makes other people less intimidated to approach you. But nevertheless neon colours are great for a day out at the beach!

What is your favourite food? Crepes. Nothing can beat the crispy goodness of a crepe mixed with cream and berries!

What’s your favourite place in the entire world? This might sound strange as I believe most people would say a place in Europe or somewhere like NYC or LA but I have got to say my favourite place in the entire world is none other than Dunedin. Dunedin is a small city in New Zealand and its scenery is exquisite. There are mountains, hills and the Pacific Ocean surrounding the entire city. It is amazing. You have to be there to believe it.

When and why did you begin writing? I have been writing ever since I was a little girl, but I only took it seriously when I was in my university days. It was a way to write down everything I was feeling passionate about and to share my passion for fashion to the rest of the world.
